❄️Let it snow❄️ Overnight storms could impact roads, some schools were delayed Tuesday

Several North Carolina counties experienced severe weather overnight.

WRAL meteorologists were tracking some severe weather across our southwest counties early Tuesday morning. Bruce A. sent us a photo of the gathering at Southern Pines around 3:30 am

It’s been more than 1,000 days since we’ve seen snow in North Carolina. The last time we saw snow was January 2022.

There were already several accidents in Greensboro on Tuesday morning. Therefore, you should be particularly careful on the road.

  • All lanes of I-40 West are closed near Exit 210 (NC 68) in Greensboro. The road is expected to reopen at 9:30 a.m
  • All lanes of I-85 South are closed at Exit 124 (S. Elm Eugene Street) in Greensboro. The road is expected to reopen at 9:30 a.m
  • All lanes of I-85 North are closed at Exit 120 (I-73 North/US 421 North) in Greensboro. The road is expected to reopen at 9:30 a.m

There were reports of several accidents in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, as well as reports of ice on bridges. You can track road conditions across North Carolina at DriveNC.gov.

Severe weather also occurred in Moore County overnight – enough to disrupt the school district.

Due to the snow, Moore County Schools will be delayed two hours Tuesday morning.

The district said bus pickup times and school start times will be delayed by two hours from the usual schedule.

“After assessing road and bridge conditions this morning, we have determined that it is unsafe for buses to begin their morning runs at this time,” the district said on its website.

A viewer sent us this festive video of snow falling in Carthage.

Steven G. sent us this video of severe weather in Cameron, which is about 10 miles from Carthage.

Chatham County saw significant snow accumulation.

Several WRAL viewers also sent us photos of what Chatham County looked like overnight.
