One person died and seven others were injured when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Las Vegas police are investigating the explosion that occurred this morning outside the hotel near S. Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and Fashion Drive.

According to a police social media post, a vehicle fire occurred at the entrance to the hotel.

Clark County Fire Department Deputy Chief Thomas Touchstone said crews, along with Las Vegas police and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, arrived on scene about four minutes after receiving a report of a fire at the hotel.

When emergency services arrived, they quickly began extinguishing the fire when they discovered that several people were injured.

Touchstone said seven people suffered minor injuries, two of whom were taken to an area hospital.

He also said a person in the Cybertruck died, but details about the person were not released.

The vehicle has been fully extinguished and the scene is safe, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Chief Kevin McMahill.

He told reporters that police responded to the hotel at 8:40 a.m. after receiving a report of an explosion and fire at the hotel.

McMahill also said the department is aware of the incident that occurred early Wednesday morning in New Orleans, in which a man drove a pickup truck with an ISIS flag on the hitch into a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing 10 people and dozens more injured.

The sheriff said in light of the explosion on “iconic” Las Vegas Boulevard, police are taking every precaution, including searching for secondary devices.

Jeremy Schwartz, the FBI’s acting special agent, also told reporters that one person had died, although there aren’t many answers at this time.

In another post on X, President-elect Trump’s son Eric Trump released a statement about the incident.

“Today there was a reported electric vehicle fire in the Porte Cochère of Trump Las Vegas,” Eric wrote. “The safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains our top priority. We wholeheartedly thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their quick response and professionalism.”

Police did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for further information.

Musk later released additional information about the explosion.

“We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the back of the rented Cybertruck and was unrelated to the vehicle itself. All telemetry data from the vehicle was positive at the time of the explosion,” Musk wrote.

The truck that drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning was also a rented vehicle.

According to White House officials, President Biden was briefed on the Cybertruck explosion.

FOX 5 in Las Vegas reported that smoke could be seen rising from the tower in a video captured by the outlet. The station also reported that it received video from a vantage point indicating there may have been fireworks in the vehicle, which was a Tesla Cybertruck.
