The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bibb County in central Alabama until midnight.

At 10:45 p.m., severe thunderstorms were observed along a line extending from near Holt to near Vaiden, moving eastward at a speed of 60 miles per hour. Damage to roofs, facade cladding and trees is to be expected. Affected locations include: Brent, Centreville, Vance, Woodstock, West Blocton, Lawley, Ashby, Brierfield Ironworks Park, Low Gap, West Centreville, Mertz, Talladega National Forest, Eoline, North Bibb, Randolph, Trio, Marvel, Six Mile , Bibb County Airport and Green Pond.

Be alert for a possible tornado! Severe thunderstorms can quickly develop into tornadoes. If you spot a tornado, immediately go to the basement or a small central room in a sturdy building. For your own protection, go to an indoor area on the lowest floor of a building. A tornado warning remains in effect for central and west-central Alabama until 4 a.m.
