A Vestavia Hills teenager died over the weekend after being critically injured in a fall from a moving vehicle.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the teen as Hudson Joseph Meek. He was 16.

The accident occurred at 10:47 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Canyon Road, which runs from U.S. 31 to Columbiana Road.

Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Hudson suffered blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle onto the road.

He was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. Saturday.

Hudson’s death is currently under investigation by Vestavia Hills police, who have not yet released a statement on the incident.

Hudson and his brother Tucker Meek began acting at a young age. The brothers appeared in the Lifetime movie “The Santa Con” 10 years ago and the acting continued.

According to the Internet Movie Database, better known as IMDb, Hudson made his breakthrough in 2017 with the role of Young Baby in “Baby Driver.” He also starred in “Found” in 2023 and “The School Duel” in 2024.

A weekend post on Hudson’s Instagram account said: “It breaks our hearts to announce that Hudson Meek has gone home to be with Jesus tonight.”

“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a significant impact on everyone he met,” the post reads.

The message said details about a celebration of Hudson’s life, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in his memory at Vestavia Hills High School, would be announced at a later date.

There was an outpouring of support and prayers for the family on social media following both the accident and his death.

“You were just a bright light to everyone around you,” a friend wrote. “God has been shining through you 24/7.”

“You were taken far too soon,” the friend wrote. “But I can tell you one thing: the 16 years you spent on Earth were everything. You will be loved forever, my husband.”

J Pervis Talent Agency, which represented Hudson, wrote on Instagram: “Hudson was more than just a talent. He was a source of inspiration and touched so many lives with his enthusiasm, kindness, smile and innate ability to light up a room without hitting a stranger.”
