2 freshmen receive All-American honors

Notre Dame continues to prepare for its showdown with Indiana in the College Football Playoff. In the meantime, awards for players and coaches will continue.

On Thursday night, the College Football Network announced its freshman All-American team, which featured two standout Notre Dame players.

Cornerback Leonard Moore played in all 12 games this season. Moore recorded two interceptions and was credited with defending ten passes in those games. He was instrumental in Notre Dame being ranked as the best team in the country in terms of defensive passing efficiency.

Moore was also named the College Football Network’s Freshman Cornerback of the Year for his efforts.

Left tackle Anthonie Knapp was also named to the team after being forced into the starting lineup during fall camp due to an injury to projected starter Charles Jagusah.

Knapp started all 12 games this season for a Notre Dame offensive line that had virtually no collegiate experience entering the year and was a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award (best team offensive line in college football) by season’s end.

Notre Dame vs. Indiana in the College Football Playoff

No. 7 Notre Dame hosts No. 10 Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Friday, Dec. 20. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET, which can be seen on ABC.
