TE notes: Since the 49ers are in the rare position of not only being an underdog, but also a touchdown underdog, I’m going to park George Kittle at No. 1. This isn’t a week where the Niners can make him primarily a pitch-killing blocker. His ceiling remains the highest at this point… I wrote before reconsidering at press time. Brock Purdy’s (shoulder) health appears to be delicate. … Trey McBride While he can’t score, he ranks No. 2 overall in tight end yardage. Kyler Murray will need McBride’s easy button completions against the Vikings’ potent pass rush. … Travis Kelce has cooled down from its hot streak in weeks 8 to 10, but eight weekly goals still seem like a given. The Raiders give up the third-most TE fantasy points. … newbie Brock Bowers leads all tight ends in receiving yards, even though the Raiders already had their bye. As the Raiders lean on Aidan O’Connell, he’ll have to deal with more quarterback drama, but the constant focus on Bowers was one of the few things O’Connell did in Week 6, the only start he made this season has done well.

Taysom Hill will never repeat his career-best performance in Week 11. That’s not necessary to stay in the top five tight ends, while the Saints are still extremely short. Taysom is unavoidable at the moment. …With Josh Oliver out last week (wrist, ankle), TJ Hockenson played 70 percent of the snaps and posted a 7/114/0 line. He has achieved at least 7/72 in 2 of 4 appearances in 2024. Gravity returns. … It was a tough Week 12 for Cade Otton after the return of Mike Evans, but the facts on the ground have not changed. No one is even close to competing with Otton for the secondary spot in this pass-first offense. It’s a nice thing compared to a Panthers “defense” that gives up the most tight end fantasy points. …You could rank Jonnu Smith in the top 3-4 and not be wrong. His ranking is more about a difficult short-week spot for the Dolphins’ entire offense that could make it difficult to score touchdowns.

Even though DeVonta Smith (hamstring) returns, Dallas Goedert should sneak into the top 10 against the Eagles’ shoot-prone pass defense. … We find ourselves in a board position where performance deficits predominate. The Lions have a sky-high team record against the Bears, but Chicago has been relatively stingy so far. Sam LaPorta has indicated a ceiling of zero in 2024, while the floor doesn’t look too hot either. … Kyle Pitts has six catches for 75 scoreless yards in his last three games. While we can at least reach a ceiling now, the Falcons’ entire floor seems to have dropped recently. They have to survive as home underdogs against a weak Chargers team. … Mark Andrews has tended to produce like a back-end TE1 in high-scoring games. Bookmakers are currently predicting that PHI/BAL will be the highest-earning contest of week 13. … Even if Romeo Doubs (concussion) is on the shelf, “Baby Kittle” Tucker Kraft is too great a threat of 0.0. … Luke Schoonmaker has received “TE2 Freebie” status Jake Ferguson’s (concussion) prolonged absence.
