2025 NFL Draft: Prospects with first-round grades and comps

How many first-round prospects are there in the 2025 NFL Draft class?

You might think the answer is 32 because there will be 32 picks in Round 1 on April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. But we’re not talking about how many players end up drafted in Round 1; We’re talking about how many have a true first-round grade.

The average draft class consists of about 15 players who are considered “first-round talents,” although the number varies depending on the team and scouting department. These hallowed ratings are reserved for prospects who would have been a Day 1 pick regardless of year, and my own guideline is whether a player would have been a first-rounder in each of the last five classes.

My first look at the Class of 2025 features the lowest number of true first-round grades I have ever assigned. The final 2024 list contained 18 names and the 2023 list contained 20. This year we’re at… 12. There’s still time for things to change and for that number to grow, but here are the players who are making it I now earn a first round grade on my board. (Players’ overall rankings are in parentheses after their names.)
