It’s been a tough day – and a tough season – for 49ers fans. Many are depressed about Monday night’s brutal loss in Buffalo and a new injury to Christian McCaffrey. However, some fans say they are not giving up hope for the season just yet.

The bad news about Christian McCaffrey was confirmed by head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday afternoon – McCaffrey has a torn ACL in his knee. The good news is that he probably won’t need surgery, but will still be out for at least six weeks and will be placed on the injured reserve list. “He’ll get through this, he’s a great player and a great person and an incredible 49er, and he’ll be back stronger than ever next year to help us,” Shanahan said during a news conference Monday.

At Levi’s Stadium on Monday, fans expressed their feelings that injuries to key players over the course of the season – including McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams and Brock Purdy – have made the road very tough. Everyone also expressed the feeling that the team is down but not eliminated. “I have been a season ticket holder since 1991 and have seen many good and many bad seasons. So it is what it is…so, no, I’m not depressed,” said fan Patrick Garrison.

“Everything is possible. I saw the Niners come back and take it all. I watched them have a losing season and get it all back. So we can do whatever is in the Niners’ blood,” said fan Vanessa Grozav. Daryle “The Guru” Johnson is the midday host at 95.7 The Game. Johnson said that when he found out that Fred Warner had been playing with a broken ankle for two months, that alone told the story of a team that didn’t give up.

“You know to me that this signals to the Niners in that locker room that the players didn’t give up, and obviously it didn’t go the way they wanted, but to be honest, they’re two games back and I’m in the Show a saying – if.” “The math is still there, go for it!” Johnson said.

In a positive development, Shanahan said Nick Bosa is expected to be back in practice on Wednesday and will be evaluated daily. The 49ers host the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
