San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Trent Williams was sidelined Sunday against the Buffalo Bills with an ankle injury. However, few knew that the All-Pro tackle was facing an unimaginable personal tragedy off the field.

Williams and his wife Sondra recently experienced the devastating loss of their twin children, with the most recent tragedy occurring on November 24th.

“It was extremely difficult to process the saddest hello and goodbye I’ve ever had to endure,” Sondra shared on Instagram. “Last Sunday evening, 11/24/24, I greeted your lifeless 4 pound 8 ounce 18.5 inch long little body at 11:38 p.m. At just 35 weeks, her impressive and rapid arrival didn’t even leave mom time to get an epidural. I “I am so grateful to have had your aunt Katina (who also cut your umbilical cord) and your nurse Hannah by my side.”

Sondra continued, “As much as I tried to prepare for our meeting, I was not prepared and never would be. After losing your twin early in pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 was not true and would not be the fate of my long-awaited beautiful son. My firstborn and only son, I always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more.

Despite her heartache, Sondra expressed gratitude for the bond she formed with Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr. during her 35-week pregnancy and treasured their time together.

“I have peace of mind knowing you will never have to suffer,” Sondra wrote. “Although I will never hear your soft coos and cries or see those beautiful little eyes looking up at me, I am grateful to God for the time I spent with you.”
