5-star DL Justus Terry commits to Texas

5-star DL Justus Terry commits to Texas

This Intel representative from Sentell continued Georgia football recruiting has the latest with 5-star DL Justus Terry. He’s the No. 2 DL in the country in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 10 overall prospect for 2025. He’s No. 2 in the On3 industry rankings and No. 9 overall.

When Justus Terry was in middle school and ninth grade, Georgia defensive line coach Travion Scott told him his recruitment would be a “marathon.”

Scott knew it. He knew there would be twists and turns from the moment the nation saw Terry on tape.

Although the Georgia DL coach knew what was coming, his program didn’t reach the finish line first.

Texas beat Georgia today, making it the second best DL in the country. That seems pretty ironic considering the Longhorns and Bulldogs will now face off in the SEC Championship Game tomorrow.

Terry told the crowd at that decision ceremony Friday that none of the schools were aware of his decision. They found out live with the rest of the nation.

The future No. 2 DL in the class of 2025 actually increased interest early in his career when he went viral for posing shirtless and with a physique a high school senior would appreciate.

Terry chose UGA early on. Said everything correctly. When he did, he sounded more than sincere.

Then USC came along and changed its recruiting. He transferred from UGA to USC, which surprised everyone.

His promise to the Trojans did not last. He finished his career and had impressive visits to Alabama, Auburn and Texas in his final season.

It appears his official visit to Texas for the Georgia game had a big impact on this decision. When Terry took a few moments to pull out the colors for his choice, it only added to the drama.

This marathon reached its expected final conclusion Friday afternoon at Manchester High School.

The fact that he had to wait until Friday for the rest of the country’s 5-stars and top prospects to sign on Wednesday shows that he has reached all 26.2 miles in his decision.

The decision fell on Auburn, Georgia and the late surge from Texas. There were also prospects at Alabama and FSU that he should consider down the road.
