As expected, the second installation of “Squid Game” was an immediate huge success. Season 2 debuted with 68 million views in its first four days of release – more than any other Netflix series in its premiere week, surpassing the record set by “Wednesday” in 2022 with 50.1 million views.

The season also quickly landed at No. 7 on Netflix’s list of most popular non-English-language TV titles of all time, as measured by each series’ first 91 days of viewing. Season 1 of Squid Game currently sits at the top of this list with 265.2 views, but Season 2 still has plenty of time to potentially exceed that limit.

This of course made “Squid Game” Season 2 the most-watched title of the week from December 23rd to 29th on Netflix. Season 1 also received renewed interest and landed in third place among the non-English language TV series of the week with 8.1 million views. The week’s second most viewed title overall was the Taron Egerton-directed film “Carry-On” (34.9 million views), followed by the Tyler Perry-directed film “The Six Triple Eight” (23.3 million).

The English-language TV charts were topped by Netflix’s two NFL games on Christmas Day: the Ravens’ game against the Texans, in which Beyoncé had a halftime performance, was No. 1 with 14.4 million views, and the Chiefs’ game against the Steelers were right behind at 14.3 million.

“Virgin River” Season 6 was the first scripted series on the English-language charts, coming in at No. 3 with 9.2 million views in its first full week of availability. Season 1 also got a boost, coming in at No. 10 with 1.3 million views . Coming in at No. 4 was the comedy special “Your Friend, Nate Bargatze” with 6.3 million views in its first six days of streaming, then “Black Doves” with 5.4 million views in its third full week of availability.

“Fireplace for Your Home: Crackling Birchwood Fireplace” was the No. 6 title on the chart. apparently played in the background of many Netflix users’ holiday celebrations. Another variation, “Fireplace for Your Home: Classic Crackling Fireplace,” ranked ninth with 1.6 million views.

“The Madness” ranked at number 7 in its fifth week on the chart, reaching three million views, followed by “No Good Deed” with 2.7 million views in its third week on the chart.
