The Warriors’ decline continues with a loss to the Suns (113-105).

After losing three straight games on the season, the Golden State Warriors took on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday to begin a quick two-game road sweep.

Despite Steph Curry’s return to the starting lineup, the Warriors had no answer to the Suns’ first-half long throw on Saturday in Phoenix. In the first half, the Suns shot 54.8% from the field, including a blistering 14 made 3-pointers in the first two quarters against the Warriors. Sharp shots from Duke graduates Tyus Jones and Grayson Allen gave the Suns a 17-point lead at halftime.

While the Suns opened the game with an early start, Curry was quiet as he began his return to the court. Curry missed the Warriors’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday because of a knee injury. At halftime, Curry scored just two points on 0 of 5 shooting from the field.

Despite a slow start, Curry came alive in the third quarter and sparked a Warriors run. Curry scored 15 points with three triples in the third quarter, cutting Phoenix’s lead. Behind Curry’s excitement in the third quarter, the Warriors cut the Suns’ lead to just seven points early in the fourth quarter.

While the game continued to be close in the fourth quarter, every time the Warriors tried to make one last comeback, the Suns were able to respond with a shot of their own. Kevin Durant scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors a 113-105 lead.

Durant and Devin Booker combined for 48 points for the Suns, while Jones added 19 points against the Warriors on Saturday. Curry led the Warriors with 23 points on 8 of 21 field shots, three triples to go, seven rebounds and four assists. Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield and Brandin Podziemski all scored in double figures for the Warriors.

Saturday’s loss to the Suns was the Warriors’ fourth straight loss. The Warriors’ schedule doesn’t get any easier with an NBA Cup contest against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets coming up in Denver on Tuesday.
