Patrick Gibson plays a serial killer

Dexter Morgan is a serial killer in training in the new trailer for the origin story series Dexter: Original Sin.

The prequel series stars Patrick Gibson as young Dexter and Michael C. Hall as his inner voice. Set in 1991 Miami, the series follows Dexter “as he goes from student to avenging serial killer.” When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. Under the guidance of his father Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be excluded from society, without becoming a target for law enforcement. This is particularly challenging for young Dexter as he begins a forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.”

In the trailer, Slater tells Gibson: “You have to adapt. One wrong move, you’re ruining your life, your sister’s, mine.” He replies, “This is who I am, who I need to be.” Learning my code was just the beginning of bringing it to life for the first time , is a whole new story.”

Dexter: Original Sin Also starring are Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, Patrick Dempsey and special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The 10-episode drama is executive produced by Clyde Phillips and produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Executive producers also include Scott Reynolds, Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns, with the series produced by Robert Lloyd Lewis.

Dexter: Original Sin begins streaming on December 13th for Paramount+ subscribers on Showtime plans before making its on-air debut on December 15th.
