The Eagles’ Sirianni is “definitely OK” with Brown reading during games

PHILADELPHIA – Eagles coach Nick Sirianni showed a strong defense of AJ Brown on Tuesday, saying he was “definitely OK” with the star wide receiver reading a book on the sideline in the game and dismissing those who speculated , what lies behind Brown’s hiding actions.

Sirianni’s comments came Tuesday during a radio appearance on 94.1 WIP after Brown was the talk of the bench reading “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy during the Eagles’ wild-card playoff win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

“Some guys pray in between, others mediate in between. AJ reads in between. “Whatever these guys need to do to get their minds to a place where they can play with great detail and great effort, I fully encourage them to do that.” Sirianni said.

Brown caught three goals in the game, leading to questions about whether he had acted out of frustration.

“We don’t do research and conclude, ‘Oh, he must be upset.’ “I think that’s fishy,” Sirianni added. “Everyone needs to find out why they are doing this before passing judgment on the man. Because the man, AJ Brown, is a great, great, great person. The man AJ Brown is the best receiver – and I say it without hesitation – the best receiver this city has ever seen… I have a hard time watching people attack him without thoroughly researching who the “A man is and what he actually does.”

Brown explained that he brings the book to every game and reads it because there are passages that give him a sense of peace. And no, he didn’t read it because he was dissatisfied.

“I wasn’t frustrated at all. I thought you probably all thought that,” Brown said Sunday. “Why do you always think I’m frustrated? Damned. I like reading.”

Brown further explained on social media why reading during games works for him. “I use it to refocus and hold on, regardless of what may happen in the game, good or bad,” he wrote on X. “People tend to create controversy when they don’t know the truth.”

All the attention was very good for book sales. “Inner Excellence” took the top spot on Amazon’s trending list after previously ranking at #523,497.
