Eva Longoria breaks down in tears and donates $50,000 to families and workers affected by the Los Angeles fires

Eva Longoria made a heartfelt promise.

On Saturday, January 11, the 49-year-old actress shared an emotional video message on Instagram amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

In her video, Longoria said she is donating $50,000 to the organization This Is About Humanity to support frontline workers and families affected by the fires.

“It’s been a crazy week,” she said, “devastating for so many people, so many friends who have lost a lot…memories and things that people worked really hard for.”

The Desperate housewives alum then revealed that she and her family evacuated their home because they were “warned” and “were constantly receiving alarms.” However, she added that she is now accommodating friends “who have been evacuated from other areas.”

“We donated clothing, I literally emptied my pantry to take to all the places that accept donations,” Longoria continued. “I will support This Is About Humanity. They are donating up to $50,000 to frontline essential workers and families affected by the fires. I will personally raise that $50,000.”

The actress explained that the money will “support all of these families who work tirelessly to provide us with food.” These farmworkers still go out and produce and pick our products in dangerous conditions. That’s why we will support This Is About Humanity.”

She began captioning her video with an inspirational message, urging L.A. residents to “just stay strong.”

“I know there are a lot of things on social media. I don’t think it’s time to analyze what went wrong. We have to take control of the situation now,” said Longoria. “So to everyone out there helping and doing their part, thank you very much.”

The actress noted that “everyone was so helpful during this tragedy.”

“People come together in wonderful ways and it’s beautiful to watch,” she said. “I will continue to post links and places where you can help, volunteer and donate. Thank you to everyone who is out there helping and doing their part. God bless all the firefighters who risk their lives to save our lives.” Our homes. Thank you to everyone who helps.

Longoria reiterated her promise in the caption of her post.

“My heart breaks for the city of LA and the devastating fires that have impacted so many lives,” she wrote. “I am personally donating $50,000 to @thisisabouthumanity’s efforts to support frontline essential workers, farmworkers, day laborers and families affected by these wildfires. I hope we can come together and support these resilient members of our community.”

The wildfires began on Tuesday, January 7, and have displaced more than 80,000 people, including many celebrities.

The LA County Medical Examiner has reported 16 deaths as of January 11th. Additionally, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said at a press conference on January 12 that at least 16 people have been reported missing since the wildfires began The New York Times.
