Tiger Woods is back in action.

Woods, 49, will make his TGL debut for Jupiter Links Golf Club on Tuesday alongside teammates Max Homa, Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim. They will face Los Angeles Golf Club featuring Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, Sahith Theegala and Tommy Fleetwood at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

How does the competition work? Think PGA Tour meets top golf. Players first drive onto a giant simulator screen before moving onto a real green once their shot lands 50 yards or less from the hole. During the first nine holes, teammates take turns in the “triples” phase. The final six holes feature head-to-head duels between players from both teams, referred to as “singles.”

Woods has a vested interest in the TGL. Together with Rory McIlroy, he founded the new, technology-loving golf league.

“It’s hard to believe that this dream became a reality and we were able to take golf to another stratosphere,” Woods said during last week’s game.

Hole 3: Tiger Woods Barley misses 42-foot putt, LAGC leads 3-0

Tiger Woods nearly won hole No. 3 (par-3, 188 yards) for Jupiter Links Golf Club on the green. Woods narrowly missed a 42-foot putt to the left. That opened the door for LAGC, who slammed the hammer to double the hole’s value before Justin Rose sealed the win with a 10-foot putt attempt. Rose rolled the ball into the bowling pin and gave his team a 3-0 lead.

Hole 2: LAGC leads 1-0

Adrenaline seemed to overwhelm Jupiter Links Golf Club on hole No. 2 (par-5, 582 yards). The drives of Max Homa and Tiger Woods found the water. Homa’s shot was too far to the right, while Woods went completely over the hole. Each water hazard resulted in a hitting penalty and set the team back. “I don’t know what the hell happened. I haven’t gotten that far yet. With my old body, I don’t know how it got this far,” laughed Woods.

LACG took advantage of the mistakes and won the hole with a two-putt from Collin Morikawa.

Hole 1: Tiger Woods throws a hammer and levels the hole

The Jupiter Links Golf Club started with a bang. Tiger Woods dropped the hammer before his drive on hole No. 1 (par-4, 376 yards), doubling the hole’s value to two points.

“That was great,” Woods said after his opening drive. “Seriously, man, that was the best. We’re going to make this place bounce with a little hammer. Let’s go.”

Both teams finished the hole in a tie after making par.

The 15-time major winner makes his TGL debut tonight at the SoFi Center, and everyone was wondering what music the 49-year-old golf legend would go to? It surprised absolutely no one that Tiger Woods chose Survivor’s 1982 rock classic “Eye of the Tiger.”

This came after the rest of his Jupiter Links team performed to the TI song “Bring Em Out” and the entire Los Angeles team performed to 2Pac and Dr.’s “California Love.” Dre had appeared. However, unlike tonight’s other participants, Woods’ professional achievements were not read aloud by the moderator. He went out alone, with only the song and the cheers of the crowd. TGL Format: Inaugural Season Rules

Each TGL match is a competitive display of skill and strategy consisting of two intense sessions. The first session is a nine-hole 3-on-3 alternate shot format known as “Triples.” In the second session, golfers compete individually and play over six holes, with each player playing two holes. A shot clock set to 40 seconds increases the pressure as any violation of the shot clock will result in a one-stroke penalty.

Each hole is worth one point. If the teams are tied at the end of regular time, the game goes into overtime. In overtime, players compete against each other and the team that lands their shot closest to the flag is declared the winner. — Elizabeth Flores
