Several upsets on Saturday will determine college football rankings shifts in the season’s penultimate slate.

South Carolina beats Clemson, Michigan wins over Ohio State and Syracuse beats Miami. This will impact the fifth CFP rankings ahead of Tuesday’s release.

Here’s a prediction of what the next round could look like after an unpredictable college football Saturday.

Updated CFB playoff forecast

No. 1 Oregon (Big Ten Champion)

No. 2 Texas (SEC Champion)

No. 4 Boise State (Top Group of 5 Champion)

No. 12 South Carolina vs. No. 5 Penn State

No. 11 Arizona State vs. No. 6 Notre Dame

No. 10 Indiana vs. No. 7 Georgia

No. 9 Ohio State vs. No. 8 Tennessee

Michigan edged Ryan Day and Ohio State for its fourth straight rivalry win over the Buckeyes.

Ohio State was eliminated from the Big Ten championship game after the loss, giving Penn State a chance to play for the conference title after defeating Maryland on Saturday night. The Buckeyes will fall but remain on track to secure an outright playoff spot.

The shocks continued as Syracuse rallied from a 21-point deficit to hand Miami its second loss of the season.

The loss meant Miami would lose the chance to face SMU in the ACC Championship. Clemson will now clinch the spot, and the Hurricanes are in danger of being eliminated from the playoffs entirely due to the team’s two unranked losses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

However, Saturday’s loss to South Carolina means Clemson, with three losses, could miss a first-round bye even if the Tigers emerge victorious from the conference championship game. It also means Clemson could be eliminated from the playoffs entirely if SMU wins the conference title.

Meanwhile, Alabama beat Auburn while South Carolina triumphed over Clemson, keeping the teams in contention for a playoff spot despite suffering three losses this season.

The Crimson Tide has three wins against ranked teams this season and South Carolina has four. Meanwhile, Miami didn’t play a top-25 opponent this fall. That could make the difference in the selection committee’s final overall decision.

Notre Dame, in danger of being eliminated from the CFP round with a loss to USC, secured a road win over the Trojans, keeping the Fighting Irish in the playoffs.

Arizona State defeated Arizona 49-7 and then advanced to the Big 12 title game thanks to a TCU win over Cincinnati. A win could potentially make ASU the only Big 12 team to earn an at-large bid, with Boise State expected to beat the power conference for the top four spot.

Texas secured a spot in the SEC championship game against Georgia with a win over Texas A&M, while Indiana potentially added to its resume with a 66-point win over Purdue.

The fifth CFP rankings will be released following the conclusion of Week 14 on Tuesday, December 3rd, followed by Selection Day on Sunday, December 8th.
