Bill Burr on UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder: ‘It’s fun to see’…

Bill Burr believes CEOs have learned nothing since the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

In a new interview with diversitythe 56-year-old actor spoke about his developing comedy as part of his upcoming Hulu special. Drop dead yearswhich reportedly covers everything from marriage, fatherhood, personal growth to transitioning from his previous aggressive humor to a softer, more introspective tone.

Burr also discussed the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was fatally shot in New York City last month.

“The funny thing about when that CEO got beaten up was that it made CEOs feel uncomfortable,” he said. “I’m sure they haven’t learned anything, but here’s the thing: that’s how everyone feels every day when you’re under pressure because ‘that’s how business is done.’ How to leave these burning wreckages of shattered lives as you “restructure” and “consolidate.” It was fun to see them worry.”

For the new special, which was filmed in Seattle, Burr said the location depends on whether he feels “there’s going to be a lot of backlash from the crowd.”

“When you do a stand-up special, there are cameras on location, so people tend to be a little more approachable,” Burr said diversity. “And I need this push-pull thing. I don’t want to be in an echo chamber. I would rather it be more hostile than pleasant.”

Burr said he adjusts his “asshole mood” depending on the state he’s in, before adding, “If I’m conservative, I’m going to be more liberal.” And if I’m liberal, I’m going to be more conservative. It’s like trying to cook an oversized egg, you know? It’s an art.”

Asked if he was more careful when editing political materials, he replied: “No. You just go up and do it. And if you listen to that part, it’s apolitical. All I’m saying is that we need to find a way to resolve our differences without dropping bombs on children. I don’t think anyone would have a problem with that.”

Bill Burrs Drop dead years will premiere March 14 on Hulu.
