Cold front and weather patterns ahead

Congratulations on making it through Thanksgiving and let the countdown to Christmas begin! It feels like Christmas across Texas this morning. Temperatures are below freezing in the northern third to half of the state, while the southern half is not much warmer.

A strong cold front moved south across Texas on Wednesday. High temperatures over the next few days will generally be in the 50s and 60s, with overnight lows in the 30s and 40s. High temperatures will return to the 70s across South Texas early next week. A strengthening of cooler air will keep the northern half of Texas seasonally cool, with another frost expected Sunday and Monday morning.

The eastern half of Texas is expected to experience wetter weather starting Tuesday and lasting at least through Thursday. Light rain is possible Sunday and Monday across the Rio Grande Valley, the Gulf Coast from Lower Texas to the Coastal Bend. Severe storms and widespread rainfall don’t seem to be on our wish list as we approach the first few days of December.
