Tottenham suffered their sixth defeat in their last nine Premier League games as Arsenal slipped to a 2-1 win in the north London derby on Wednesday.

ARSENAL 2-1 TOTTENHAM – Highlights, summary and analysis

Arsenal’s first goal is likely to frustrate Ange Postecoglou, his players and Tottenham fans as the Gunners were wrongly awarded a corner kick after the ball bounced off Leandro Trossard after Pedro Porro blocked his cross. Gabriel Magalhaes (from Dominic Solanke’s deflection and own goal) scored from the ensuing set-piece, leaving Spurs dejected after another unfortunate break in a season full of scoring opportunities. Trossard scored four minutes later and Arsenal could have scored a few more goals before the final whistle if new goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky hadn’t made a couple of big saves in the second half.

Ange Postecoglou reaction – What did Tottenham manager say after north London derby defeat to Arsenal?

“Not nearly good enough, especially in the first half. We were too passive. We let Arsenal dictate the game. The second half was a little better, but not nearly good enough. Unacceptable.”

“Ultimately the responsibility lies with me and the way I prepare the players. I’m more interested in how we play and we weren’t anywhere near the same level today.”

“Of course they (defeats) hurt me. Unacceptable. Too many losses this year. Too many games are missing out on us. It has to stop. There is no other way to look at it. If you give up now, there’s no point. At the moment we have a big game against Everton this weekend. That’s our focus.”
