Get ready for Spotify with these audio settings

Spotify’s Wrapped experience is one of the best parts of being a Spotify subscriber. The year-end experience breaks down your listening stats and highlights the best highlights. Spotify hasn’t announced exactly when we can expect to see the launch of this year’s experience, but it’s typically sometime in late November or early December. If you’re like me and are eagerly awaiting the release, you can take your time and play around with Spotify’s advanced audio settings to find your top hits (or the ones you think might fit your top 5 songs ) to make it sound even better.

Technical tips

Spotify’s advanced audio settings let you tailor your music to your surroundings. For example, if you need to study in a library (or other quiet place), you can lower the background volume to avoid unnecessary distractions. Or if you’re working out and sweating it out at the gym to your favorite playlist, Spotify’s genre equalizer can get you ready for the next few reps. When you’re done, you can easily disable these settings.

Finding and using Spotify’s audio quality settings is easy and opens up a world of musical possibilities. Here are all the important Spotify audio settings you should know.

Adjust your basic volume to your environment

Volume is pretty easy to figure out, but did you know that Spotify allows Premium users to adjust the app’s base volume to suit their environment? You can choose Quiet, Normal or Loudand each has its own advantage.

Quiet This makes songs slightly quieter and sounds clearer, making it a good choice when relaxing at home. Normal lets songs play at medium basic volume and the sound is less clear than Quiet. This is a good choice for most people and situations. Loud is – you guessed it – louder, but you might lose some audio quality due to the volume. This option is good if you are at the gym or another similarly noisy environment.

How to find the right equalizer setting

Both iPhones and Android devices have a manual equalizer slider and a handful of pre-built genre-based equalizers.

You should see the manual equalizer slider, which looks like a line graph with six points. When you first enter this page, the equalizer should be flat.

Each point in the graphic can be adjusted for more or less sound. The leftmost bar represents your bass, the rightmost bar controls your treble, and the middle bar controls – you guessed it – your midrange. You can customize the bars as you wish.

You can also find genre-based equalizers on this page. You can choose what genre you listen to and the app will automatically adjust the sliders to optimize for that style of music. Once you choose one, you can further adjust the sliders for the perfect listening experience.

If you want to reset the equalizer, there is a genre based equalizer called Apartment. This will reset the equalizer to its default setting.
