The Warriors hold on for a much-needed win against the Timberwolves

Before closing the chapter on a four-game road series, the Golden State Warriors made a stop in Minnesota on Wednesday night to face the Timberwolves. With a chance to end their road swing on a high note, the Warriors outscored the Timberwolves early in the game, hitting a flurry of three-pointers in the opening quarter to take a double-digit lead.

The Warriors made eight 3-pointers in the first frame and built a 34-12 lead over the Timberwolves in the first 12 minutes. Despite a 22-point lead in the first quarter, the game was far from over.

After struggling to finish all season, the Warriors experienced late-game problems in the second half against the Timberwolves. Behind Anthony Edwards and former Warrior Donte DiVincenzo, the Timberwolves returned to the game.

With one minute left, the Timberwolves tied the game with two free throws from Naz Reid. After the Timberwolves tied the game, Steph Curry heroically came to the rescue.

With 47 seconds left, Curry sank a crucial 3-pointer to give the Warriors a three-point lead. Strong defense and free throws from Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II helped the Warriors to a much-needed win at Minnesota, 116-115.

Curry led the Warriors with a game-high 31 points on 10 of 21 field shots, seven three-pointers to go and eight assists in 37 minutes. Edwards and DiVincenzo each scored 28 points, but that wasn’t enough for the comeback against the Warriors.

After a 2-2 road win, the Warriors get two days off before returning home to Chase Center to face Jordan Poole and the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
