Long before Cam Newton and Kayla Nicole co-starred in Season 3 Special Forces: The Toughest Test in the WorldThe two were briefly involved in an online feud. In 2022, Newton made controversial comments about a woman’s place in the house – and Nicole fired back.

“To me, being a woman means taking care of your own needs, but also knowing how to respond to a man’s needs,” Newton said at Barstool Sports A game worth a million dollars Podcast. “I often think when you have the aesthetic, ‘I’m a boss bitch, I’m this, I’m that…’ but you can’t cook. You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to let a man take charge.”

Nicole then took to Twitter (now X) to criticize the former NFL star’s comments. At the time, she was dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Although she didn’t mention Newton by name, the influencer wrote: “The obsession with women being able to cook is really weird.” Because it’s like if your palate is so good with a Michelin star chef, then with a dud. I’m pretty sure the average woman is capable of preparing edible food. How do you think she’s survived so far?”

She continued: “It’s really not about whether she can cook – it’s more about whether she wants to cook for your hungry hippo ass.” Nicole also took direct aim at Newton, writing in a separate post: “That man hasn’t had a job in months. He has no choice but to have time to be quiet and get that asshole in the kitchen.”

After her comments went viral, she clarified: “I don’t have a problem with anyone.” I have problems with the idea that a woman’s worth is reduced to what comes on a plate. This narrative was shared publicly on a podcast, it is important that it be publicly denounced. Now if you’ll all excuse me, I’m going to order Postmates.”

Newton eventually made a YouTube video to clarify his comments. “I should have said, in addition to what I have already said and mentioned, that not only should a woman know when to be quiet, but a man should also know when to be quiet,” he said. “Whether it’s about being what you need to be as a human being – a man or a woman – that’s what you should be. And I think it would have cost me not to go deeper like I should have.”

He also pointed out, “I have daughters. When the day comes that my daughters look back and say, ‘Damn, Dad, what did you really mean by that?’ I’m not going to pull back and say, ‘Well, that’s just taken out of context.'”

Newton and Nicole are both currently starring in the third season of Special forces where they attend a training course modeled after the U.S. Special Forces selection course.
