$303 million is up for grabs

The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing rose to $305 million after no one won the top prize on Monday.

If someone matches all six numbers in Wednesday’s drawing, they could opt for a one-time cash payout of $133.7 million.

Although no one won Monday’s Powerball, one person in Virginia managed to win a $1 million prize, according to the lottery.

The game had an eventful 2024 with nine jackpot winners, including the biggest in April: The $1.3 billion jackpot went to three players in Oregon, one of whom is a cancer survivor. The last win came in December, when a ticket sold in New York contained the winning numbers for a $256 million jackpot.

No one has won the jackpot or the $2 million prize in the Match 5 + Power Play. But one lucky person who bought a ticket in Ohio won the $1 million Match 5 prize.

How do you play Powerball?

To play the Powerball you must purchase a ticket for $2. You can do this in a variety of locations, such as your local supermarket, gas station, or even the grocery store. In some states, Powerball tickets can be purchased online.

Once you have your ticket, you will need to select six numbers. Five of these are white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. You can also add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases the winnings for all non-jackpot prizes.

The “Power Play” multiplier can multiply wins by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X.

If you’re unlucky or want the computer to do the work for you, you have the “Quick Pick” option, which involves printing computer-generated numbers onto a Powerball ticket. To win the jackpot, players must hit all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.

Powerball drawings take place on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. If no one wins the jackpot, the cash prize continues to increase.
