NFL Tips, Predictions Week 13: New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts

The New England Patriots are coming off two straight losses to the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins and now host the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

New England hasn’t played the best ball, posting a 3-9 record through the first 12 weeks. They haven’t performed consistently well in any of the three phases, but at least rookie quarterback Drake Maye is giving fans some hope for the future.

Indianapolis is just outside the playoffs with a record of 5-7, two games behind the Denver Broncos in seventh place. They haven’t been particularly impressive and have swapped quarterbacks several times this season.

Before we see these two teams take the field for another continuation of a historic rivalry, let’s see what some experts say about this matchup.

NFL Picks, Predictions Week 13: Patriots vs. Colts

Vinnie Iyer, Sports News: Patriots 23, Colts 20

Iyer: “The Patriots can be more competitive here as they face an inconsistent offense at home. They will be able to run the ball well and keep Drake Maye comfortable in the intermediate passing game at home. Jonathan Taylor’s running is getting a little better, but the Patriots outrun the Colts and win with the help of Maye.

Bill Bender, Sports News: Patriots 14, Colts 19

Bender: “The Colts are away favorites in New England, where the Patriots have lost three of four since turning to rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Colts second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson is also still developing, making this a passing attack with low percentages on both.” New England is 1-1 ATS as underdogs by three points or fewer, so it’s a tie. “

Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic: Patriots 17, Colts 20

Cluff: “This is pretty much a must-win game for the Colts if they want to have a shot at the NFL postseason. “Anthony Richardson will make a big play late to keep Indianapolis’ playoff chances alive.”

Matt Johnson, Sportsnaut: Patriots 21, Colts 27

Johnson: “The Indianapolis Colts were reasonably competitive with the Detroit Lions for at least three quarters. Now Anthony Richardson has a much easier game against the New England Patriots. Offensively, this should be one of the Colts’ best games this season and in Indianapolis should also be somewhat successful in putting pressure on Drake Maye.
