Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings: Second quarter review and third quarter discussion

Both teams head to the locker room at halftime in Minneapolis, with the Minnesota Vikings trailing the Arizona Cardinals 9-6 in a field goal battle.

The Cardinals had the ball in Minnesota territory after a turnover, but the Cardinals’ drive stalled and they called on Chad Ryland for a 45-yard field goal attempt. Ryland’s kick sailed wide right and Aaron Jones’ fumble resulted in no damage for the Vikings.

Minnesota’s offense then ended with a three-pointer and a big punt from Ryan Wright brought the Cardinals to their own 16-yard line to start their next possession. They pushed down the field and got into the red zone again, and Ryland scored in the 31st minute to make the score 6-3 six minutes before halftime.

The Vikings moved the ball to the Arizona 29-yard line after the two-minute warning, but Sam Darnold was sacked again and the Vikings brought in Parker Romo for a 55-yard field goal attempt. Romo prevailed and the game again ended 6-6.

Arizona took advantage of their two-minute drive and pushed into Minnesota territory again, and again they called on Chad Ryland for a field goal attempt and his 24-yarder was good to make it 9-6 going into halftime.

There isn’t much action at US Bank Stadium so far, but the Vikings will be taking the football out of the locker room, so hopefully something will change. The Vikings are currently trailing the Cardinals 9-6 at halftime in Minneapolis, and we invite you to join us for the third quarter!
