West Virginia is making leadership changes within its football program

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced today that he has made a change in leadership of the Mountaineer football program Neal BrownHis term ends after six seasons.

“Coach Brown is a great person and he has served as a great ambassador for West Virginia University,” Baker said. “He led our storied program with class and integrity, always putting in the hard work necessary for success. We are grateful to Neal, his wife Brooke and their children for their contributions to our university, community and state, and we wish them all the best in their next endeavor.”

Brown ends his tenure at West Virginia with an overall record of 37-35. With WVU clinching a bowl berth this season, Brown’s Mountaineer teams have appeared in four bowl games in his six years, including wins in the Liberty and Duke’s Mayo Bowl. His overall record as a head coach is 72-51 after 10 seasons at West Virginia and Troy.

“We will continue to focus on the incredible young men in our program and prepare for our bowl game,” Baker added. “Our national search for WVU’s 36th head football coach is underway. I am confident that with the strong alignment of the university leadership, our passionate supporters, our proud history and our willingness to invest, we will have an excellent candidate pool.”
