“Electric moment” brought enthusiasm to the Eagles after their early season woes

The Eagles are experiencing a turnaround in their 2023 season.

Last year they finished 11-6, but went 1-6 after a 10-1 start and were subsequently eliminated from the playoffs with a 32-9 loss in Tampa.

That season, the Eagles went 2-2, suffering – again – a blowout loss to the Buccaneers and narrowly defeating the Packers and Saints.

But Philadelphia has been undefeated since then.

According to NFL.com, the seven-game winning streak came after an early bye in Week 5 in which starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t get off to an easy start.

The two stayed connected in person, via Zoom and by phone.

NFL.com quoted an anonymous source who described the week as “a stirring moment” for the head coach-quarterback duo that led the Eagles to a 9-2 record with a two-and-a-half game lead in the NFC East – and they are just 11-1 behind the Lions in the conference.

“According to a source, Hurts and Sirianni spent approximately two hours on phones, FaceTime, Zoom and in person,” NFL.com reported. “Then they randomly talked for 30 minutes a day when something came up. They reviewed the call sheets, talked about the team’s identity, and Hurts asked pointed questions about what he could improve.”

Plus, it went beyond the two of them.

The entire staff reportedly participated, including offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, passing game coordinator and associate head coach Kevin Patullo, as well as starting running back Saquon Barkley and the offensive line group.

The Eagles have won four of their seven games away from Philadelphia during that span, highlighted by road wins at Cincinnati and last week’s 37-20 victory over the Rams in which Barkley recorded 302 all-purpose yards – including 255 rushing yards, ninth-most in in NFL history and a franchise record.

The Eagles have another test this week against the Ravens, who at 8-4 are arguably the best team on their schedule so far.
