Joe Mixon again gains 100 yards and TD runs in a Texans win

However, Mixon and Houston have slammed that proverbial door shut. He carried the ball five straight times, was stopped at the line of scrimmage on the first of those five times, and then broke away for a gain of 14 and two yards on the next two. The Jaguars used their final timeout after those runs and then saw Mixon gain four more yards as the clock ticked down to the 2-minute warning. On 3rd and 4 after halftime, Mixon gained eight more yards and the Texans were able to hold on until the end with CJ Stroud in victory formation.

“When we needed it most, you had to capture your best on tape,” Mixon said. “I’m just happy that we succeeded. We were able to finish it on the run.”

This was Mixon’s seventh game this season with 100 or more yards on the ground.

“You’re talking about a guy who plays with the relentless attitude and tenacity that you need,” Ryans said. “To still produce yards, even when I mean they’re loading the box, and to still find a way to get yards.”

Stroud praised Mixon for his help on offense and said he believes the best is yet to come, in large part due to his addition.

“Now I feel like we’re starting to find that rhythm,” Stroud said. “And we just have to keep going.”

Mixon and the Texans will not play next Sunday because of their bye week. They will return to action in Week 15 with a noon contest at NRG Stadium against the Dolphins.
