Celtics injury report: 4 rotation players listed for Cavaliers game

The Celtics have an important game against the Cavaliers in the regular season, but they could be shorthanded for Sunday’s 6 p.m. game in Cleveland. A total of four rotation players are listed on the injury report.

Derrick White (right ankle sprain), Kristaps Porzingis (return from injury), Al Horford (left big toe sprain) and Jrue Holiday (right adductor muscle strain) are all questionable for Sunday’s game. That’s a long list as the C’s look for their eighth straight win on Sunday against the East Cavs, the top-ranked Cavs.

The Celtics have a tough time ahead with five games in the next seven days, including back-to-back games. Therefore, the Celtics will likely shake up their guys so they aren’t completely shorthanded in some games. For example, Porzingis and Horford could stagger Sunday’s game in Cleveland and Monday’s game against the Heat, where the bigs play one game each.

White’s injury will be something to keep an eye on going forward. The sprain left him leaving the Bulls’ win early in the third quarter. C’s coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game that White said he would be fine. The questionable status is at least a positive, as it’s likely an everyday injury and not something that would sideline him long-term. Holiday’s injury is also new after he played 36 minutes in the Bulls’ win on Friday.

The Cavaliers enter Sunday’s game with a record of 17-3, including a two-game losing streak after a hot start to the season. The Celtics come into the game at 16-3, although they also picked up a win over the Cavs on November 19th in Boston. But this time around, the Cavs will look to get revenge on the defending champions after a close game the first time around.
