Gamers Nexus claims NZXT’s Flex PC rental program is a ‘scam’

An hour-long video posted on Saturday by Gamers Nexus, a YouTube channel focused on PC gaming hardware, accuses NZXT’s PC rental program of “bait and switch” tactics involving price and switch Specifications constantly change.

The Flex program allows customers to rent pre-built gaming PCs starting at $59 per month (without a mouse, keyboard or monitor). But Gamers Nexus reveals that NZXT changes the specifications and prices of PC models “on a daily basis in some cases,” offering PCs with very different configurations under similar model names depending on whether you want to buy or rent. The rapidly changing prices also obscure the potential value of the listed “discounts” as packages move back and forth.

The video shows an instance of NZXT’s player: three PCs with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card and an Intel Core i7-13700KF with the “Buy” option selected. However, when looking at the same PC model under the Subscribe option, the same processor was shown with a less powerful Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti.

Despite the different GPUs, NZXT stated that both models perform well in games such as: B. have the same estimated frames per second Starfield And Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Gamers Nexus also highlights other elements of the Flex program, such as the pricing scheme that makes customers pay more money than simply buying a PC, and “aggressive” terms of service. The edge We reached out to NZXT for comment but did not immediately receive a response, and we did not see a response in the community areas or social media channels.

“We just think it’s a scam at this point,” Gamers Nexus editor-in-chief Steve Burke says during the video. “The performance figures alone are extremely misleading, especially since the only meaningful difference between them is the word ‘Super’, which many people – especially those who may be renting or purchasing a pre-fab model – don’t understand.”
