Snow on Wednesday could make travel difficult

DENVER (KDVR) – A bullet point weather alert has been issued for Wednesday as snow spreads from the mountains into metro Denver.

Weather tonight: Snow is spreading from the mountains to the metropolises

Snow will continue to fall in the mountains Tuesday evening before spreading toward the metro after midnight.

In Denver and across the Front Range, showers will begin as cool rain before turning to snow as low temperatures fall below freezing.

Weather tomorrow: Pinpoint weather alert day for snow, difficult travel

There is a precise weather alert day for Wednesday. Snow will continue throughout the morning, making the drive from the high country through the foothills, the Palmer Divide and the metro slippery.

Snow showers will ease in the afternoon, but roads will remain slick into the evening, especially at higher elevations where a total of 1 to 3 feet of snow will fall in this event.

Temperatures will remain cool, only rising to over 30 degrees, which is 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Looking ahead:

Sunshine and cool temperatures dominate the forecast for Thanksgiving. Temperatures will start Thursday in the teens and then reach highs in the upper 30s.

Friday will be another sunny but cool day.

Temperatures in Boulder for the University of Colorado game will start around freezing and then rise to 40 degrees by the end of the game. In Fort Collins, temperatures will be a cool 40°C at kickoff of the Colorado State University game and will drop to 30°C with plenty of sunshine by the final game.

More sunshine is forecast for this weekend. Temperatures will start in the teens on both Saturday and Sunday and then rise to the low to mid 40s.

There will be a slight warming trend on Monday and Tuesday, with high temperatures climbing back towards 50 degrees.
