The undermanned Lakers are fighting for a win in Utah

The Los Angeles Lakers began a four-game road trip against the Utah Jazz on Sunday while undermanned, particularly in the backcourt. Starting guard Austin Reaves and key reserve D’Angelo Russell were sidelined before the start of the game due to a left pelvic contusion and illness, respectively.

As a result, they struggled to score points efficiently for the fourth time in their last five games. They scored at least 30 points in just one quarter, and although they took the lead a few times in the second half, they could never really shake the Jazz.

After LeBron James missed a 3-pointer with 11.0 seconds left, the Lakers strengthened their defense and led 105-104. Utah guard Collin Sexton appeared to have found a way to the basket for the game-winning layup, but the team called a timeout with 2.0 seconds left and couldn’t fire a shot after that. This mistake almost single-handedly secured victory for Los Angeles.
