Tulsi, Kash, Vivek: Trump picks Hindu lawmakers for top Cabinet posts

Former President Donald Trump has selected several Indian-Americans for prominent positions in his incoming administration. These appointments include roles in law enforcement, government efficiency and health.
Trump nominated Kash Patel as boss FBI
Trump nominated Kash Patel to head the FBI, replacing Christopher Wray, pending Senate confirmation. Patel, a convinced Trump supporter, has earlier expressed his support for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. “Whether you are Hindu or Muslim or not, there was a Hindu temple there to one of the main gods of the Hindu pantheon in 1500 that was overthrown and for 500 years they have been trying to get it back. Washington institutions have conveniently forgotten this part of history,” Patel said in February.
Trump appoints Vivek Ramaswamy for DOGE
Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate, was appointed by Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency. Ramaswamy has publicly embraced his Hindu faith. “I am Hindu and I am proud of that. I stand for this without apology. I believe my faith will strengthen my commitment to defending religious freedom,” he said.
Trump picks Jay Bhattacharya as director of National Health institutes
Trump also nominated Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to head the National Institutes of Health. Usha Chilukuri Vance, wife of new Vice President JD Vance, will serve as second lady.
Trump picks Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence
Another person mentioned for a position in the Trump administration is Tulsi Gabbard, who is known for her open practice of Hinduism. Gabbard has advocated for stronger U.S.-India relations during her time in Congress.
