The final chapter of season five began with the death of John Dutton, the main character played by Kevin Costner, whose departure from the series is well-documented and mired in controversy.

In last week’s episode, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) – the girlfriend of Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton – was murdered after viewers discovered she was responsible for John’s murder.

At that moment, original character Colby Mayfield (Denim Richards) was kicked in the chest by a wild stallion he had been trying to tame in recent episodes.

What made the death even more heartbreaking was the fact that Colby had just told his girlfriend Teeter (Jennifer Landon) that he loved her.

Longtime viewers of YellowstoneThose who have liked Colby since his appearance in the first season were angry at showrunner Taylor Sheridan, and many lamented the number of deaths that have occurred in recent episodes.

One fan said: “There was no reason to kill Colby at all,” while another explained: “I’m devastated right now!” What the fuck, Taylor Sheridan!”
