From GOAT to scapegoat, in the truest sense of the word.

Baltimore Ravens placekicker Justin Tucker started this season with the highest career field goal percentage in NFL history, but today marked the first time he ever missed more than one kick in a single game.

He missed three (two field goal attempts and an extra point), and if you’re scoring at home (I hope for your sake you have better things to do at home than scoring the text). Raven wire article), that’s a total of seven points that he single-handedly left on the field.

The loss to the Philadelphia Eagles today was by just five (24-19), prompting Tucker to say the following to reporters afterward:

“I just left out the points, I feel like I cost us them. But it doesn’t really benefit anyone to think about it, the only thing we can do is keep working, go forward, take one step at a time.”

“I hate to say I’ve had to have the same conversation over the course of the season but that’s part of the job description, the kicks are either good or they’re not and today I didn’t do enough of them. “It’s a job well done, ours “To help the team win the football game.”

Taking stock of yourself and thereby taking full responsibility is a lost art these days. You may be very frustrated and perhaps even angry with Tucker’s performance on Sunday, but you have to give him credit for stepping up and taking the blame.

Many people who have spent most of their careers being branded as the best in their field wouldn’t take the path that Tucker has taken here.
