VOTE: Central Florida Behavioral Network Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week November 18-30

Each week, the Herald-Tribune staff will make nominations for the Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week poll, sponsored by the Central Florida Behavioral Network, Inc. Nominations are determined from scores and statistics emailed in by Sarasota and Manatee County coaches throughout the week [email protected]. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the athlete of the week.

The winner of the Nov. 11-16 poll was Out-of-Door Academy golfer Brooklyn Cullen with 43.04% of the vote.

A poll is posted every Monday on heraldtribune.com and voting closes at 10 a.m. Friday each week.

The nominees for the weeks of November 18th to 30th are:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Johnny LackaffSarasota: The Sailors scored 26 points in Sarasota’s 78-32 win over Venice and 15 points in the Sailors’ 54-53 win over Santa Fe Catholic.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Ava NovaRiverview: The Ram scored 13 points, collected six rebounds and had four assists in Riverview’s 73-36 win over Wiregrass.

FOOTBALL

Ryan Downes, Booker: In the Tornadoes’ 41-6 Class 3A-Region 3 championship victory over Boca Ciega, the Booker quarterback completed 7 of 9 passes for 160 yards and four touchdowns.

Eli JonesVenice: The Venice defensive end recorded two sacks and two fumble recoveries in the Green and White’s 55-26 Class 7A-Region 2 championship win over West Orange.

Ashton KellyCardinal Mooney: The Mooney running back rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns in the Cougars’ Class 2A-Region 3 championship win over Bishop Verot.

Ryan MatulevichVenice: The Venice wide receiver caught four passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in the Green and White’s 55-26 Class 7A Region 2 championship victory over West Oraage.

KeiShawn SmithManatee: The Manatee running back ran 20 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns in the Hurricanes’ 38-0 Class 5A-Region 3 championship victory over Riverdale.

BOYS GOLF

Parker Severs, Lakewood Ranch: At the Class 3A State Championships, the Mustang golfer placed second overall, posting a two-day total of 141.

GIRLS GOLF

Emily Storm, Lakewood Ranch: At the Class 3A state championships, the Mustang golfer finished tied for 10th overall, posting a two-day total of 146.

BOYS FOOTBALL

Ryder SpisakParrish: Spisak scored three goals in the Bulls’ 8-0 win over Sarasota.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Believe AllenBradenton Christian: Allen scored three goals in the Panthers’ 8-0 win over Bayshore.
