Where to Find Christmas Trees in and Around Arlington

Amid the chilly weather and decorations around Arlington, the holiday season – and with it the Christmas tree selling season – has arrived.

Many tree sales around Arlington begin on Friday and Saturday, right after Thanksgiving. The festive fir trees won’t be hard to find in parks, parking lots and garden centers – but some markets encourage early shopping.

As usual, the county will collect Christmas trees during a special curbside pickup in January. Although there is no official count of how many pine trees are purchased in Arlington each year, 64 tons of trees were collected last season, a county spokesperson told ARLnow.

Below is a list of local Christmas tree markets and their opening dates.

In Arlington

Clarendon United Methodist Church

When: November 30th – December 1st and 7th – 8th December; Online pre-order now possible

606 N. Irving Street (Ashton Heights)

A total of 275 Canadian Fraser firs will be available at the Clarendon United Methodist Church tree sale this season. Trees and wreaths will be available in the church parking lot while supplies last.

Selling benefits: New Hope Housing and unreasonable medical debt.

Arlington Optimist Club

When: Starts November 29th at 12:00 p.m

5115 Little Falls Road (Yorktown)

The Optimists Club’s decade-long annual Christmas tree sale begins Friday in the Knights of Columbus parking lot. The Optimists sell 9-foot-tall Fraser firs and 5- to 6-foot-tall white pines from Galax, Virginia, as well as garlands, wreaths and White House ornaments.

Regular opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sales benefit academic, civic and athletic programs for Arlington’s youth.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church

When: Starts November 30th at 9 a.m

830 23rd Street S. (Aurora Highlands)

Our Lady of Lourdes Christmas tree sale begins Saturday in the church parking lot at the corner of 23rd Street S. and Hayes Street. Sales take place every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The church recommends shopping early.

Boy Scout Troop 162

When: Starts November 29th at 9 a.m

6000 Wilson Blvd (Boulevard Manor)

Scout Troop 162’s 50th Annual Christmas Tree Drive will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Dominion Hills Pool parking lot. The troupe, which will also offer wreaths and garlands, began selling Christmas trees in the 1970s.

After opening day, regular hours are Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 167

When: From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., November 29th to December 29th. 1st and 7th–8th December; Online pre-order now possible.

1500 N. Glebe Road (Waycroft-Woodlawn)

Scout Troop 167’s Christmas tree sale begins Friday at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. The troupe sells North Carolina-grown Fraser firs that range in height from 6 to 8 feet. The troupe’s trees come from Cartner Christmas Tree Farm in North Carolina, the same farm that supplied the White House’s Blue Room Christmas tree this year.

Two evergreen wreath designs, “EZ” hangers and tree stands are also available.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

When: Starts November 29th at 9 a.m

4000 Lorcom Lane (Donaldson Run)

St. Andrew’s launches its annual Christmas tree sale on Friday with freshly cut trees of various sizes. The Rossana coffee truck will be on site from November 29th to December 29th. 1 with refreshments.

Regular opening hours are Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In recent years, the church said it sold about 85% of its trees the first weekend.

The Lodge in Metropolitan Park

When: December 7th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m

1330 S. Fair Street (Pentagon City)

Alexandria-based, family-owned tree seller Almost Heavenly Trees will host a pop-up tree sale at The Lodge, an annual ski-themed winter festival in Metropolitan Park.

The festival features various activities including a Christmas market, arts and crafts, a dog sweater contest and a peppermint mocha contest.

Whole Foods

When: Available now

2700 Wilson Boulevard (Clarendon)

Table and large Christmas trees, wreaths and ornamental plants were spotted outside the Whole Foods in Clarendon this morning (Monday).

Vicinity

Home Depot

When: Available now

6210 Seven Corners Center

The Home Depot near Falls Church sells both fresh-cut and artificial trees and decorations. According to the store’s website, hundreds of live trees are available for free local delivery.

Meadows Farms Nurseries and Landscape

When: Available now

6461 Arlington Blvd

Just minutes outside Falls Church, Meadows Farms expects to stock about 3,500 trees this season, along with live wreaths and poinsettias, an employee told ARLnow. The store received a delivery of trees on Thursday.

Four varieties of fir and white pine trees are available for sale on the garden center’s website.

Merrifield Garden Center

When: Available now

8132 Route 29

New shipments of fresh trees arrived at Merrifield Garden Center near Falls Church on Friday. The store transforms into a Christmas store every November through December, selling Christmas trees, ornaments, lights, decorations, artificial wreaths, gifts and other holiday items.
