Rams’ HC thrilled with star RB’s performance

The Los Angeles Rams (6-6) picked up a season-saving win on Sunday afternoon when they defeated the New Orleans Saints (4-8) 21-14 on the road. Third-year running back Kyren Williams had a season-high performance and impressed his head coach with his best game of the year.

Williams managed a game of 104 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries. He averaged just under seven yards per carry, showcasing his hard-running talent and ability to contract quickly to force defenders to gain extra yards. He was the catalyst for the win this week.

Rams head coach Sean McVay was very pleased with Williams’ performance and talked about what he saw from other position groups and what helped him achieve his best game of the season. It was also Williams’ second game in which he rushed for over 100 yards, as he did it against Green Bay (102 yards).

“Kyren’s energy was outstanding,” McVay said. “You could see that I think he excelled at being really decisive. You can see when he put his foot in the ground he was able to balance runs really well. The second and third levels, as I mentioned, do a good job of getting him into the second and third levels of defense and then being able to finish him off Run where you can just about stand it at the end of the day, it was pretty cool for him and he’s just going to be a guy that just builds on it. He’s made of the right stuff.

Williams will need to put together more of those plays in the final five games of the season as the Rams are determined to advance to the playoffs and are still in the hunt for an NFC West title. McVay has all the confidence in the world in his primary defender and will look to give him more chances to succeed.
