49ers’ Trent Williams and his wife announce the death of their son in a heartbreaking post

The 49ers left tackle Trent Williams’ wife Sondra announced the tragic death of their newborn son Trent Jr.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Sondra revealed that she lost Trent Jr.’s twin early in the pregnancy and that Trent Jr. was stillborn last month.

“It was extremely difficult to process the saddest hello and goodbye I have ever endured. Last Sunday evening on 11/24/24; At 11:38 p.m. I greeted your lifeless 4 pound 8 ounce 18.5 inch long little body. At just 35 weeks, your impressive and rapid arrival didn’t even give you time to get an epidural. “I’m so grateful to have had your aunt Katina (who also cut your umbilical cord) and nurse Hannah by my side,” Sondra wrote, adding broken heart and prayer emojis.

Trent and Sondra Williams share three daughters.

“No matter how hard I tried to prepare for our meeting, I was not prepared and never would be. “After losing your twin early in pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 was not true and would not be the fate of my long-awaited beautiful son-Shine,” Sondra continued on Instagram.

“My firstborn and only son, I always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more. Knowing that you are with your great aunt Vivian in heaven and will always be our guardian angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this grief. My heart is heavy. Being home without you in my arms has been quite an adjustment. Knowing that I will never be able to watch you grow older along with your sisters filled my eyes with tears.”

Trent Williams has made 11 Pro Bowls and was first-team All-Pro three seasons in a row.

He has missed San Francisco’s last two games with an ankle injury. His family tragedy had not been previously disclosed.

In her announcement on Instagram, Sondra expressed her confidence that Trent Jr. would be the family’s guardian angel.

“I can’t describe how I felt leaving the hospital without you. Nor what it feels like to celebrate Thanksgiving at home without my baby in my arms. My heart is broken and my arms are empty,” Sondra wrote.

“But I know that you will always be close to me and watch over me and your sisters. And for that my heart smiles with gratitude.

“Thank God for allowing us to bond for 35 weeks and for giving birth to you so I could hold you in my arms. I have peace of mind knowing that you will never have to suffer. Even though I will never hear your soft coos and cries or see those beautiful little eyes looking up at me, I am grateful to God for the time I spent with you. Madison loved listening to your heartbeat and watching your waves of movement in my stomach. Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr., my sweet baby boy, we love you, our forever angel!”

It is the second time this season that a 49ers player has suffered the tragic loss of a young child.

In October, defense attorney Charvarius Ward announced the death of his one-year-old daughter.

“We are heartbroken that our beautiful little girl Amani Joy passed away Monday morning,” Ward wrote on Instagram.

“She was the best blessing we could have asked for and her cheerful spirit had us smiling from ear to ear. She taught us patience, trust and a positive attitude to life. She showed us true strength and bravery.”
