Hylton Stubbs is moving from the Miami Hurricanes to the Florida Gators

Over the past month, the Florida Gators have patched things up – both on the field and in recruiting.

Billy Napier’s coaching staff has won three straight games and the program has received double-digit commitments since mid-November.

Many of the commits come from other large programs.

Florida did it again on Monday afternoon when four-star safety Hylton Stubbs of Mandarin (Florida) traded his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to the Gators.

“I’m a Swamp Boy,” he told On3.

Stubbs’ recruitment was a whirlwind.

After committing to USC in March, the talented defensive back took official visits to Florida, Miami and, of course, USC in the spring.

But at the end of June he said goodbye to the Trojans and Miami immediately emerged as the clear favorite.

A week later, Stubbs was a “Cane.”

However, Florida has been on the rise in recent weeks – with many predicting a move to the Gators last week.

Now the All-American Bowl selection travels to Gainesville.

Here’s what 247Sports had to say about Stubbs as a prospect:

“Well-rounded safety prospect who can defend the pass and the run. Added a good amount of mass between junior and senior seasons and doesn’t appear to be mature yet. Has experience working in different alignments and can probably do the same. Next level as he is a spirited competitor in the penalty area and alert in marking. He beats people as a tackler, often explodes through his hips, tracks the ball well in the back of his head and has the necessary ball skills takeaways. Isn’t the type of defender that will win a lot of foot races, but he has the quickness to correct some mistakes, which can add value as a potential multi-year impact defender. There are a lot of different options because he can compensate for tight ends, run lanes shorten and be successful in the blitz. He’ll likely find the most success with an aggressive plan that puts him in a position to move up in the NFL with his physicality.

Overall, Florida’s 2025 recruiting class consists of 23 commitments – 12 additions since Nov. 11 – and is ranked No. 10 nationally.
