Large donation to the Kentucky branch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Kentucky Association of Health Plans made a major donation Monday that could benefit your children.

$100,000 was donated to provide books to children in Kentucky through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Through grant opportunities, the association presented the check to help print and ship books across the state to help children start their own home libraries.

On average, it costs $2.60 to print and ship each book. Local libraries provide these funds, so the program remains free for parents.

That’s why a portion of these funds will be used to specifically support programs in Lexington and Louisville through a matching grant of up to $10,000 collected closer to Giving Tuesday.

First Lady Britainy Beshear, along with representatives from the Imagination Library and the Kentucky Association of Health Plans, presented the check to a crowd of recipients.

“This check we were able to issue today ensures that all Kentucky families continue to have the privilege of receiving this free Dolly Parton book,” said First Lady Beshear.

“Dolly Parton’s dream is to put a book in the hands of every child, and we are so grateful to the Kentucky Association of Health Plans for making this possible,” said JC Morgan, state director of the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Kentucky.

If you would like to help help local children, you can contact them and make a donation.

Earlier this year, Dolly was in Lexington to celebrate the nationwide expansion of the Imagination Library. WKYT’s Amber Philpott got the opportunity to speak exclusively with Parton:
