First lady Jill Biden supported President Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter Biden from his criminal charges during a holiday news conference with National Guard members and their families at the White House on Monday.

The White House unveiled its Christmas decorations to the media ahead of the holiday season. This year’s theme was “A Time of Peace and Light,” Jill Biden announced in a statement Monday.

“As we celebrate our final holidays here at the White House, we are guided by the values ​​we hold sacred: faith, family, service to our country, kindness to our neighbors, and the power of community and connection,” the Bidens wrote in a souvenir holiday guide given to visitors.

The announcement pardoning Hunter’s two felony convictions was made by the White House on Sunday evening. The pardon applies to crimes against the United States that Hunter Biden “committed or may have committed” from January 1, 2014 to December 1, 2024.

“Today I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden wrote in a statement. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere in the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I have kept my word, even as I watched my son be selectively and unfairly prosecuted became.”

The president further claimed that his son was “treated differently” by prosecutors.

“Yes,” President Biden told ABC News when asked if he would rule out pardoning Hunter before his guilty verdict in the gun case.

Days later, after a jury of Hunter’s colleagues found him guilty of three serious weapons offenses, the president again said he would not pardon his son.
