The father and husband of the bride killed on her wedding night explode with emotion – when drunk driver Jamie Komorowski is sentenced to 25 years in prison

Emotions exploded in a South Carolina court on Monday as the drunk driver who killed a bride on her wedding night pleaded guilty – the murdered woman’s father seethed: “For the rest of my life I will hate you,” and her widower sobbed about it, “Stuck in hell.”

Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, received a lot of attention at the hour-long hearing as relatives of murdered bride Samantha Miller took turns criticizing her for mowing down the blushing bride in April 2023.

“I’m going to hate you for the rest of my life,” Brad Warner told Komoroski shortly before she was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Charleston court.

“And when I get to Hell and you get there, I will open the door for you.”

Komoroski listened grimly as Warner explained how he himself was injured in a hit-and-run accident as a child and how just six months after he finally forgave the driver, his daughter was killed, according to WCBD.

Earlier in the day’s proceedings, Komoroski pleaded guilty to drunkenly hitting Warner’s daughter, 34, as she and her new husband, Aric Hutchinson, were being driven in a golf cart from their wedding reception in Folly Beach.

Komoroski was driving at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone with a blood alcohol content at least three times the legal limit, investigators found. Miller was killed instantly – still wearing her wedding dress – while Hutchinson was left in the hospital with serious injuries.

The grieving groom, sobbing, told Komoroski that he sometimes wished he had died alongside his bride.

“I wish I had left that night so she didn’t have to go alone,” the 36-year-old said.

“I have no joy, I have no passion, I have no drive. I’m stuck in hell,” he said. “What do you say when your world is just destroyed?”

“I think about that night and the final moments I spent with Sam on the golf cart every day,” Hutchinson told the court.

“She told me she didn’t want the night to end and I kissed her on the forehead and that’s the last thing I remember.”

Hutchinson’s mother told the court that she even wondered whether it would have been better for her tortured son if he had died – she said she had to “put away the thought that maybe it would have been better if Aric and Sam had been taken in together.” would have been.”

Komoroski pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, for which she received 25 years in prison, drunk driving causing bodily harm or homicide, for which she received 15 years, and driving under the influence, for which she received 10 years in prison.

Her sentences are to be served concurrently, meaning she will spend 25 years behind bars.

In court and with Miller’s family, Komoroski described herself as a recovering alcoholic and said she would be “deeply ashamed” of her decisions for the rest of her life and that she was deeply sorry for what happened.

“I will use the time to improve,” she said, acknowledging that she would and should be punished.

The guilty plea came on the first day of Komoroski’s trial, just as jury selection was about to begin.

In court, Komoroski looked downright miserable as she made her plea in a black suit.

She has been on bail under house arrest since March.

Komoroski was reportedly so drunk after the 2023 accident that she thought she was the one who had been hit and told officers who responded to the scene, “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Responders reported that she reeked of alcohol and refused to perform a field sobriety test – insisting that she had only had one beer and one shot of tequila about an hour before the accident

She is also the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchinson, accusing her of recklessly intruding on the couple after a “day of bar crawling.”

Numerous bars where Komoroski allegedly drank were also named in that lawsuit and have settled out of court for approximately $1.3 million in damages.

Komoroski was previously recorded in prison phone conversations talking to her sister about how she wants to live her “best life” within two years.
