While there’s still a lot to be decided in the AFC when it comes to seedings, there shouldn’t be much long-term drama when it comes to who makes the playoffs.

The Buffalo Bills have already won the AFC East, while the Kansas City Chiefs are three games ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West. The Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North) and Houston Texans (AFC South) each have a two-game lead in their respective divisions and picked up important wins on Sunday.

There are even several games that separate the Broncos and Baltimore Ravens from the Colts and other wild card contenders, although Indianapolis could change that with a head-to-head showdown against Denver in Week 15.

If the Colts can’t find a way to win this game on the road, it becomes even more clear that the Chiefs, Bills, Steelers, Texans, Chargers, Ravens and Broncos will be the seven AFC playoff teams.

Kansas City still controls its own destiny for the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in this group, even if the straight loss to the Bills leaves Patrick Mahomes and Co. little room for error.

Pittsburgh also has a chance to remain a factor with a game against the Chiefs in Week 17, although it may still need to win every match before that to stay in the race for the No. 1 seed.

There are still races to be decided, but an AFC playoff with potentially Mahomes, Josh Allen, Russell Wilson, CJ Stroud, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Nix should sound pretty exciting to fans across the league.
