Didn’t feel like running the Philadelphia Marathon this past weekend? Next month, the Philadelphia Film Society is hosting a different kind of endurance event for those whose skills lie in movie-watching.

The Center City Theater at 1412 Chestnut St. will host a weekend movie marathon featuring Sylvester Stallone’s entire “Rocky” franchise from December 6th to 8th – more than 10 hours in total, for those keeping count. If you want to watch the entire boxed series, you can book a package of six films at a reduced price, but there are also individual cinema tickets for casual viewers.

Screenings begin Friday at 7 p.m. with the original film “Rocky” in 4K resolution, followed by “Rocky II” at 9:30 p.m. The first two films in the series will also be shown back-to-back on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The series continues on Saturday at 3 p.m. with “Rocky III,” followed by the ultimate director’s cut of “Rocky IV” at 5 p.m.: 3 p.m., “Rocky V” at 7:30 p.m. and “Rocky.” Balboa” at 9:45 p.m. If you miss the first wave, there’s another round of the final three films on Sunday.

The event will not include screenings of the “Creed” films, a spinoff of the originals.

The watchathon coincides with the city’s first RockyFest in honor of the famous franchise. From December 3-8, fans can attend a “RockyU” seminar, take a bus tour of movie locations, attend a date night at Penn Ice Rink, or stop by a pet-friendly “Yappy Hour” at Cherry Street Pier, too Honoring Rocky’s Bullmastiff, Butkus. In honor of the film’s release date in 1976, officials also declared December 3rd “Rocky Day.”
