Hollywood’s blacklist is worse for female Trump supporters

Hollywood’s blacklist is worse for female Trump supporters

They said the quiet part out loud. Again.

Hollywood presents itself as a tolerant industry where people from all walks of life can tell their stories. And they support it on several fronts.

Just don’t support limited government, lower taxes, or, gasp, Donald Trump. Your career could come to a complete standstill. Zachary Levi calls it “career suicide.”

The entertainment press admits this every few months without acknowledging its toxic nature. Remember how the Hollywood Reporter said that Cheryl Hines might be shunned in the industry because she supports her husband, who now supports Trump?

The industry and its press acolytes would be furious if any other group within the industry were discriminated against. Black. Muslims. LGBTQ+ people.

It should.

When conservatives are confronted with blatant, undeniable discrimination, the entire industry yawns. Apparently it’s even worse if you’re a woman.

That’s what the far-left magazine Variety said in a revealing interview with Sopranos alum Drea de Matteo. The actress ran afoul of Hollywood groupthink, which effectively ended her acting career. She refused to attend the COVID-19 show, which, we later learned, did not stop people from contracting or spreading the virus.

She also began to defy Hollywood’s progressive script, which further undermined her waning status as a star. Now she supports Trump as a way to shake up the political status quo.

Variety spoke with de Matteo about her political evolution. She admitted why she may never work on a Hollywood project again.

De Matteo knows that expressing these views is an act of self-immolation when it comes to her future film and television prospects. Men can get a passport. After all, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight still work a lot. Quaid will likely continue to be in demand. For MAGA women, there is no such clear path to return.

Left unsaid? The countless artists not as famous as Quaid or Gibson who keep their conservative views secret. You know the consequences.

Additionally, the media sided with Whoopi Goldberg when “The View” host said Hollywood does not discriminate against conservatives and that the industry consists of a balance of liberal and conservative talent.

Now consider the following.

Hollywood prayed at the altar of confessed child rapist Roman Polanski until the MeToo movement made them change their minds.

Actor Ezra Miller’s criminal record was a mile long before the actor landed a star role on The Flash. Had this film overperformed at the box office (which it didn’t), Miller likely would have appeared in several sequels.

Alec Baldwin accidentally shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust. It’s a complicated case that took years to litigate in court, but Baldwin continued to work in the industry.

De Matteo’s embrace of Trump, however, probably goes too far.
