2 Delta flight attendants failed pre-flight alcohol test

Two Delta flight attendants failed an alcohol test before an international flight from Amsterdam to New York’s JFK International Airport.

According to the airline and Dutch police, the crew members – a man and a woman – were removed from the flight on Friday morning and fined.

According to Dutch law, flight crew are not allowed to consume alcohol ten hours before departure.

The flight attendant exceeded the legal limit seven times and was fined 1,900 euros, police said. The male flight attendant was fined 275 euros for exceeding the limit by 0.02.

Another flight attendant from another airline was fined 1,800 euros for exceeding the limit by 6.5 times. According to AviationA2Z, the three were stopped during a three-hour window in which police were checking 445 pilots and flight attendants at Schiphol Airport.

“Delta’s alcohol policy is among the strictest in the industry and we will not tolerate violations,” Delta Air Lines said in a statement.

AviationA2Z reported that the flight was delayed just 20 minutes before departure and arrived in the US early.

According to travel news site PYOK, the two have been suspended and could ultimately be fired.

In March 2024, Lawrence Russell, a Delta pilot, was sentenced to ten months in a British prison after showing up drunk before a flight from Edinburgh to JFK.
