Wedding photographer and family shocked by vile insults from fellow United passenger

A high-profile wedding photographer and his Indian-American family faced the wrath of a fellow passenger who hurled vile insults at them after their United Airlines flight landed in Los Angeles, disturbing footage shows.

Pervez Taufiq said he had just flown from Cancun to Los Angeles with his wife and three sons last week when he was confronted aboard a transfer bus by another passenger who was on the same flight.

He said the foul-mouthed woman “harassed” his son, who was sitting next to her on the plane, and then made racist taunts during the bus ride, which he captured on camera.

“Your family is from India, you have no respect, you have no rules, you think you can push, push, push, push anyone,” the woman told him as he was recording on November 24th. “This is what you think you are.” . You guys are fucking crazy.”

After Taufiq told the woman to tell him again to “eat more curry, right?”, she replied that she would take out her phone “to record your fucking tandoori ass,” as the video states which he had posted on social media.

When the father told someone off-camera that the woman should be removed from the bus because she was “rude and racist,” she accused him of being “racist” toward her, according to the video.

The loud woman suggested that he was not American, but Taufiq shouted back that he was born in the United States.

At the beginning of the video, she also gave him both middle fingers.

“It’s one of those things where you feel like you’re having an out-of-body experience,” Taufiq told The Post on Sunday. “We’ve seen things like this on the internet, but we never thought we’d be there.”

Taufiq, who grew up in Boston, said he first interacted with the fellow passenger during the flight when he checked on his 11-year-old, who was sitting a few rows ahead of the rest of the family.

As he checked on his son, the woman sitting in the same row as his son became annoyed as she tried to walk past him and asked if she could come to her seat, he said.

“I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m sorry,’ and then I moved aside and she sat in her spot and that was it,” Taufiq said in an interview.

Taufiq said he only learned after the plane landed that the woman had allegedly asked her son if he was Indian and where he came from and threatened to talk to his parents.

On the shuttle bus between the plane and the terminal, Taufiq accused the woman of telling his children to shut up while the family talked, which led to a verbal altercation on camera.

The footage shows United employees walking towards the woman as Taufiq shouted: “Get off the bus, racist.”

According to Taufiq, a passerby told United employees that the woman had started the trouble, and she was eventually removed from the vehicle.

Taufiq assumes that the woman was “obviously” drunk during and after the flight.

An email to United was not returned Sunday evening.

Taufiq and his wife work as photographers for unusual events around the world, including more than 200 weddings per year. Due to their busy travel schedule, the couple homeschooled their three young sons.

Taufiq received dozens of supportive messages after posting about the incident, including from journalist Katie Couric who commented: “Good God. What’s wrong with people? (Actually, you don’t need to answer that.) What a sick, sick person. And I’m so sorry your children had to be exposed to that.”

“It was refreshing to see how many people reached out and made sure we were okay,” Taufiq said.
