Three big changes for must-win

Three big changes for must-win

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will make four big changes when his team plays Mallorca in La Liga on Tuesday.

The game is an absolute victory for the Catalans, who have blown the six-point lead they gained with an impressive 4-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid at the Bernabeu at the end of October.

However, November was a nightmare month, with Barca losing two games against Real Sociedad and Las Palmas while also drawing against Celta Vigo when they squandered a 2-0 lead in the final six minutes.

Barca are still one point ahead of Madrid at the top of the table and need to win in Son Moix to get back to four points. However, Los Blancos can beat Valencia in their game and take a two-goal lead if they stay on the right track.

At his pre-match press conference on Monday, Flick said: “The positive thing is that November is over and we are starting December.”

“The team gave a lot, ran a lot, and we created chances. It’s about victory and defeat, it’s up to us. The positive part is that we create opportunities and the negative part is that we don’t convert them.” .

“We are the youngest team. We have to learn that the whole team has to know how to defend as a unit when the game gets difficult and we have a zero point.”

“At the beginning of the season we did it. And vice versa: When we attack, we do it well,” explained Flick.

Flick will make some changes compared to the team that lost 2-1 at home to Las Palmas at the weekend.

The defense is the same, with Inaki Pena in goal, supported by a backline of Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and an Alejandro Balde, who vomited blood and had to be carried off on a stretcher last time out.

We see the manager tinkering the most in midfield and attack, with Marc Casado and Dani Olmo starting in place of Pablo Torre and Gavi partnering Pedri.

Lamine Yamal has recovered enough from a muscle strain to take his place on the right wing, meaning Raphinha returns to the other side of Ferran Torres on the left and is selected in favor of Robert Lewandowski.

Starting eleven of FC Barcelona vs. Mallorca: Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde; Casado, Olmo, Pedri; Lamine, Ferran, Raphinha
